Our Staff
Melanie holds bachelor's degrees in Mortuary Science and Anthropology, with additional graduate coursework in Thanatology, the study of death, dying, and bereavement. Her professional background, combined with a passion for cemetery preservation and service to families, provides a unique perspective in caring for both the cemetery and the community it serves.
In addition to assisting families with burial planning, Melanie is committed to preserving the cemetery's history, improving records, expanding educational outreach, and maintaining Mound Cemetery as a welcoming place for remembrance and reflection.
Outside of the cemetery, Melanie enjoys long-distance hiking and has completed several thru-hikes of Minnesota's Superior Hiking Trail and the Border Route Trail. If Melanie is out of the office, she is probably out on the trail.
Melanie Parrish
Cemetery Manager
Melanie Parrish has served as Cemetery Manager of Mound Cemetery since January 2025. She brings many years of experience in funeral service, having worked as a mortician for funeral homes throughout the Twin Cities and rural northern Minnesota.


Brian Orth
Caretaker
Brian Orth serves as the Caretaker for Mound Cemetery and is responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the cemetery grounds. His work includes preparing graves, assisting with burials, maintaining the landscape, and helping ensure that the cemetery remains a beautiful and peaceful place for families to visit.
Brian has extensive experience in cemetery operations and monument installation. His knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship contribute greatly to the cemetery's reputation for exceptional care.
Working together, Melanie and Brian strive to provide compassionate service to every family while preserving Mound Cemetery as a place of dignity, history, and remembrance for future generations.
